Blue Christmas

From 4:11 am to 4:11 am

2024-04-26 18:00 2024-04-26 19:30 America/Chicago Blue Christmas

You are invited to join us for this Blue Christmas service, a time when we can, with others, acknowledge the “blue” feelings we have at Christmas time, the reasons for them, and offer them to God. This time has been called the “long dark night of the soul” and “the winter of discontent” in which memories of past experiences and the pain of present experiences can become overwhelming. For some, Christmas Day is the most difficult. For others it may be Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve, or the beginning of another lonely New Year. In this service, we’ll have some singing appropriate to the season, recognizing that this is not a season of joy for everyone. We will invite you to reflect and be present to any feelings of pain, loneliness, sadness and grief. We will welcome all feelings and how they are present with compassion, gentleness and empathy, We will allow ourselves to be seen by God, offering them to God for healing and transformation. We hope that you will find hope and comfort in knowing that you are not alone. God knows your pain and is with you in it as a loving Companion. You are welcome to bring a friend. If you’d like to let us know you are coming you may do so here. Registration is not required, yet it does help us prepare. Questions? Email kim@restorationmn.org Come as you are, you are welcome here!
