Addiction and Idolatry in the Wilderness
Life frequently doesn’t pan out the way we hoped. A job we believed would give us purpose becomes pointless. The marriage we longed for becomes something we run from. The child we’ve poured love into rejects us. When we find ourselves in these sorts of experiences, we can feel lost, impoverished, disappointed, and confused. Christian writers throughout time have called these spiritual wilderness experiences. They are times of stripping, loneliness, boredom, and fatigue. As much as we hate these seasons of life, the testimony of Scripture is that we can grow through them. Join us this Lent for an exploration of the spiritual life in the wilderness.
